Here's how homeschool record-keeping generally works in New Hampshire, and how FaithSchool keeps your hours, attendance, and portfolio organized so you can prove it when someone asks.

What this jurisdiction expects

Regulation levelNo formal mandate

Under the HSLDA framework this is a no-notice state: families generally teach without filing paperwork. Always confirm the current rules before you rely on this.

We show the published HSLDA regulation tier here rather than specific hour, day or filing numbers, because those vary and change. Confirm the exact, current requirements with the official source below and HSLDA before you rely on them.

What to keep on file in New Hampshire

Checked against the official New Hampshire sources listed at the bottom of this page — these are the records those sources describe, not general habits. Rules change; the official regulator stays the arbiter.

  • Changed in 2026: Laws of 2026, ch. 297 repealed chapter 193-A's former notification, record, portfolio and annual evaluation sections effective July 1, 2026 — the statute no longer requires families to notify the state or district, keep a portfolio, or complete an annual evaluation.
  • The remaining provision, RSA 193-A:5, is an optional Certificate of Completion: parents may notify the Commissioner to receive a certificate stating the child completed the equivalent of a high school education.
  • If your family uses the optional certificate, keep a copy of the notification you sent and of the certificate issued.
